BC Place is a multi-purpose serving stadium, located at Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. The construction of the BC Place was started on 19th June 1983 and underwent major renovations in 2009 and 2011. The overall cost of constructing the stadium was $819 million (in 2017 dollars). The architecture firms that built the magnificent stadium are Studio Phillips Barratt, Ltd and Stantec Architecture Ltd. The stadium has served as the stamping ground for BC Lions from 1983 to 2009 and from 2011 till present. It has also been home for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (MLS) from 2011 till present. The stadium is owned by the Province of British Columbia and operated by the BC Pavilion Corporation (PavCo).

Trivia

The stadium has its hall of fame museum known as "BC Sports Hall of Fame".
This stadium held the record for being the world's largest air-supported domed stadium until May 4, 2010.

Significance

It hosted the North American Soccer League game between Vancouver Whitecaps and Seattle Sounders on 20th June 1983.
The BC Lions played their first game at the stadium against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on 24th July 1983. The game concluded in favor of BC Lions.
Pope John Paul II addressed a huge crowd for ‘A Celebration of Life’ in this stadium, on 18th September 1984.
The 2010 Winter Olympic Games and the 2010 Paralympics were held in this stadium.
The 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament final was held in the BC Place.
The stadium was one of the venues selected to host the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. It also hosted the Championship Final match on 5th July 2015.
The BC Place hosted the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2015-16 Series round six.
