Autódromo Juan y Oscar Gálvez is a motor racing circuit in Argentina, also known by its official name Autódromo de Buenos Aires Juan y Oscar Gálvez. It was built in the year 1952 during the presidency of Juan Peron. Many significant events took place at the circuit such as Argentina Motorcycle Grand Prix, 1000 km Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires Grand Prix, 200km de Buenos Aires and 200 miles of Buenos Aires. The track has also hosted many non-championship events such as Formula 3000, European Formula Three, and European Formula Two.

Trivia

In 1982, Argentina Grand Prix was dropped off the calendar because Carlos Reutemann took retirement after Brazilian Grand Prix 1982 and also that Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands at that time.

Significance

In between 1961-1999, ten Argentine motorcycle Grand Prix has been hosted by the circuit.
From 1953 to 1998, the Autodromo saw 20 Formula One Argentine Grand Prix races.
From the year 1954 to 1960, the 1000km Buenos Aires sports car event took place at the circuit.
Autódromo Juan y Oscar Gálvez had witnessed many fatal accidents such as Enrico Plate's in the 1954 Buenos Aires Grand Prix, Harry Blanchard's in 1960 at 1000 km Buenos Aires World Sports Car Championship and Alberto Beguerie's at the 1978 Turismo Carretera series of Buenos Aires race.
Significant concerts of popular artists such as Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Steve Lawler, and Calvin Harris have been held here.
The circuit has been renamed several times over the years. It was formerly known as Autodromo 17 de Octubre (1952-1955), Autodromo Municipal Ciudad de Buenos Aires (1955-mid 1960), Autodromo Municipal de Parque Almirante Brown de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (mid-1960s-1989), and Autodromo Oscar Alfredo Galvez (1989-2008). In 2008, the circuit got its latest name as known today.
