VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, formerly known as Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, is situated in Jacksonville in Florida. It is a 15,000-seat indoor arena, used for sports events, concerts, public entertainment events and activities. With a massive floor area of 27,000 square feet, the place is suitable to host arena football, hockey, and basketball games. This place is the home of Jacksonville Sharks of the National Arena League and Jacksonville Giants of the American Basketball Association. It hosted the Davis Cup first-round tie between the US and Brazil teams in 2013. The venue has hosted one NBA game between the Atlanta Hawks and New Orleans Pelicans.
Significance
- The arena hosted USA Men’s Olympic basketball team in 2004.
- The arena hosted the first, second and third rounds of NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in the year 2006, 2010 and 2015.
- As per the report of the magazine "Venues Today", Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena has been ranked at number 3 in the world regarding its attendance record. It has also given the 6th place in the world by gross ticket sales for venues of 10,001-15,000 seats for the first half of 2015.
- In 2017, it became the home of the Jacksonville IceMen of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL).
