The PGE Narodowy (also known as the National Stadium) is a retractable roof football stadium, situated in Warsaw, in Poland. The construction began in 2008 and took three years to complete with an expenditure cost of c. 1.91 billion PLN. The major architecture firm involved in designing the structure of the stadium was JSK Architekci. The construction was finished in November 2011, and the arena finally opened its gate to the spectators on 29th January 2012. The PGE Narodowy has also been the home for the Poland national football team.

Trivia

The PGE Narodowy stands on the site of the 10th-Anniversary Stadium and is the largest association football arena in the entirety of Poland.

Significance

National Stadium was one of the two venues (other being Ukraine) that have hosted significant matches of the UEFA Euro 2012.
The venue also played host to the UEFA Euro 2016 Qualification matches. They were held on 11th and 14th October 2014, 13th June 2015, 7th September 2015 and 11th October 2015.
The stadium hosted four of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches.
The opening ceremony and the Poland vs. Serbia match of the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship were held here. The match was held on 30th August.
Many famous rock bands and celebrities such as Madonna, Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters have performed at the venue, attracting a large number of crowd.
