The Nya Parken Stadium was sold to IFK Norrköping in 2010 for 308.5 million dollars.
The Nya Parken Stadium is a multi-purpose arena, located in the Norrköping city of Sweden. The stadium was formerly known as Norrköpings Idrottspark and is also called Östgötaporten due to sponsorship reasons. The stadium was inaugurated in the year 1903 and is primarily used for football matches. The total seating capacity was 19,414 until 2009 after which a major renovation took place. The current seating capacity is 17,234. During the renovation 2009, the sports arena included many amenities and features - 16 VIP ultra-luxury booths and seating for 515 spectators, three bars, a small indoor training arena and two restaurants.
Significance
- IK Sleipner, IF Sylvia and IFK Norrköping have been the tenants of the stadium since its inauguration.
- The Nya Parken Stadium recorded its highest attendance in 1956 when 32,234 people attended a match between Norrköping and Malmö FF.
- A few of the group stage matches of 1958 FIFA World Cup were played here. One amongst them was the match between Germany and Scotland, marked as one of the most competitive and much-enjoyed matches in the stadium.
- The stadium hosted three Group B matches of Euro 1992 between CIS-Germany (1-1), Scotland-CIS (3-0), and Scotland-Germany (0-2).
