Kallang, Central Singapore Community Development Council, Singapore
Located in one of the most picturesque residential areas of Singapore (Kallang), the National Stadium is a new destination for all international events after it replaced the former National Stadium which was closed in 2007 and demolished in 2010. With a domed shape roof structure which is retractable and flexible seating configuration, it is the only stadium in the world which is custom-designed to host football, rugby, cricket and athletics events, specifically designed by giant architects Arup Associates, DP Architects, AECOM.
The seating tiers of the stadium have been designed in such a way that it takes only 48 hours to reconfigure the arrangement for the next event according to the requirements.
The first ever football match of the stadium was held here in 2014 between Juventus and a Singapore Selection side in August 2014. The same year, it hosted the AFF Suzuki Cup.
All the matches of the 2015 Barclays Asia Trophy have also been held at this stadium.
The stadium has hosted the opening ceremony of the Southeast Asian Games of 2015 along with some significant events.
It was the venue for the National Day Parade in 2016.
On 28 February 2016; American Singer Madonna performed in the National Stadium as part of her Rebel Heart Tour.
