According to the contract agreed in 2007, the naming rights of the arena are the property of Malmö Municipality.
Malmö Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena, located in Malmö (the capital of the Swedish county of Scania). The arena was inaugurated on 6th of November, 2008. It is considered as the largest arena in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and the second largest indoor arena in Sweden, the largest being Ericsson Globe. It hosts ice hockey, team handball, football matches and music concerts. The chief architects involved in designing the arena are Hannu Helkiö of Pöyry Architects, Mats Matson of MM Matsson Konsult AB, and Gert Wingårdh of Wingårdh arkitektkontor. Malmö Arena is owned and managed by Parkfast Arena AB. According to the contract agreed in 2007, the naming rights of the arena are the property of Malmö Municipality.
Significance
- It also played host to the Swedish Super League finals of season 2010–11 and 2011–12.
- International artists such as Bob Dylan, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Cliff Richard have performed here.
- Malmö Arena was chosen as the primary venue for the 2014 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
- The stadium is the home ground of Malmö Redhawks of the Swedish Ice Hockey League since the year 2008.
- In 2009, it hosted the Malmö Indoor Gala, which was an indoor athletics competition, organized by the Swedish athletics club Malmö Allmänna Idrottsförening (MAI).
- This arena also hosted matches of the World Men's Handball Championships, 2011. The final match of the championship had been played between France and Denmark which was won by the former team.
