This horse track also has an aristocratic club for lovers of equestrian sports "Union Club" which was formed in the year 1867. The club consist of 36 members from all over Germany including the sports journalists and publishers.
The Galopprennbahn Hoppegarten is a horse race track in East Berlin which is spread across an area of 430 hectares. This arena had also served as a historic center where political and social meetings took place till the First World War. After going through various renovations, the arena has better facilities now. As of 2010, this horse track hosts up to eleven Renntage every year, making the race track internationally popular.
Significance
- The fund manager Gerhard Schöningh owned the race track completely in the year 2008 after which it became the only private race track in Europe.
- In the year 2003, the race track was granted the status of "Landmark of National Importance" by the Federal Government.
- Many prominent racehorses such as “Oleander' and 'Schwarzgold' have been trained here.
