Still rings are an apparatus used in men's artistic gymnastics. The apparatus consists of two circular rings suspended by straps from a supporting frame. Gymnasts perform a combination of strength holds, swings, handstands and other technically demanding movements, demonstrating muscular strength, balance and body control. A 20 cm-thick landing mat is placed beneath the still rings to provide a cushioned landing surface. Each ring has an inner diameter of 18 cm and a circular cross-sectional profile measuring 2.8 cm in diameter.
