Two boats are used in the sport of canoe sprint which is the canoe and the kayak. The difference between the two is of the size of the boat, the type of paddle used i.e. single or double paddled and the posture of the athlete.
Canoe- Canoes are wide, heavy and no rudder boats. The competitors rest on one knee in the open boat and use a single-bladed paddle with grips on the top of the handle.
Kayak- Compared to the canoes, kayaks are lighter, narrow and have a small area for the kayakers to sit with their legs stretched and steer with a foot-controlled rudder situated in the cockpit. The kayakers use a double bladed paddle with a curved blade and have a grip located in the middle of the handle of the paddle.
