The World Games is an international multi-sport event, held after a gap of every four years among the athletes from all across the world. The competition features sports events that are not included in the Olympic Games. The first event of World Games was hosted by Santa Clara, California, the United States in the year 1981. The Games are governed and organized by the International World Games Association (IWGA), an international association recognized by the International Olympics Committee (IOC). The number of sports can be varied according to the availability for the particular sport in the host city.
