The Recopa Sudamericana is an annual international club football competition, organized in South America by CONMEBOL since 1988. The tournament is also known as "Recopa Santander Sudamericana" for sponsorship reasons. The last year’s Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana's (which are South America's premier club competitions) winners compete in the tournament. The current champions of the tournament are Atlético Nacional. The most successful team of this tournament is Boca Juniors with a total of 4 titles. The tournament was named so by CONMEBOL after the extinction of Recopa Sudamericana de Clubes played in 1970 and 1971. The main sponsor of this tournament is Banco Santander (one of the biggest banks). The Recopa Sudamericana is one of the greatest tournaments, played in South America. It acts as a platform for the budding players of South America.
