The IITF is the world governing body of the sport of table tennis. It was founded in 1926 with the first nine founding members being Austria, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, India, Sweden and Wales.
The ITTF works in collaboration with six continental federations, namely - African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU), European Table Tennis Union (ETTU), Latin American Table Tennis Union (ULTM), Northern American Table Tennis Union (NATTU), and Oceania Table Tennis Federation (OTTF).
Its responsibilities include overseeing the rules and regulations of table tennis and organising various international competitions on a global level.
