The International Sepaktakraw Federation (“ISTAF”) is the international governing body for Sepak takraw sport. It was formed in 1988 with five founding member countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Myanmar. ISTAF is officially based in Thailand with its secretariat in Singapore. The main aim of the body is to spread Sepak Takraw amongst the seventy-five different countries and ultimately make it an Olympic sport by 2026.
Moreover, since 1990, it is a medal sports in Asian games and also part of Southeast Asian games (SEA) since 1967. The federation has also conducted its own international tournaments in 2011 named as ISTAF World Cup and ISTAF Super Series (“ISS”) in which Thailand has won the most medals.
