The Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH) is the international governing body of all type field hockey. It's headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland and the president is Narinder Batra. The FIH is responsible for all major tournaments in field hockey, including the world cup.
The FIH was founded on 7th of January 1924 in Paris by Paul Léautey (who, hence, became the first president of FIH) with Austria, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Hungary, Spain, and Switzerland being the seven founding members.
Later in 1982, The FIH merged with the International Federation of Women's Hockey Associations (IFWHA), thereby gaining control of the women's field hockey competitions.
