The Indian Mountaineering Foundation is the national apex body responsible for organizing and supporting the mountaineering and rock-climbing expeditions at high altitudes in the Himalayas.
IMF was established in the year of 1957. At that time, it functioned as a sponsoring committee of the Cho Oyu Expedition. The Organization jointly works for promoting and encouraging youth for their participation.
It also regulates various schemes for related adventure activities and environmental protection work in the Indian Himalayas. The IMF has organized multiple expeditions to the high peaks in the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest.
