The International Federation of Pétanque and Provencal Games was earlier established in the year of 1958 in Marseilles. In the beginning, it has membership from 7 other countries such as France, Italy, Monaco, Belgium, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia.
In recent times, it has a membership of 46 various countries with an estimated 6,00,000 licensed players worldwide. It majorly aims at developing and conducting various events of the International Federation of Pétanque.
It also hosts the most significant World Championships of Pétanque. The Pétanque World Championships are conducted in various criteria such as the singles, doubles, triples along with precision shooting for men, women and youth.
