Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team on October 8th wore black armbands during their match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Indian Premier League (IPL) at Dubai International Stadium. The armbands were worn as a tribute in the memory of Najeeb Tarakai, the Afghanistan top-order batsman.
Tarakai passed away in the mere age of 29 after meeting with an unfortunate road accident and suffering from severe injuries. He was injured badly on October 2 and had to undergo a surgery. Tarakai was treated in Nangarhar, but faith had other plans, and undoubtedly it was a significant loss for the world of cricket. He debuted in the 2014 T20I World Cup and since then has played 12 T20Is and one ODI for Afghanistan cricket team. In March 2017, he scored his personal best international score of 90 during the T20I series against Ireland. He also played 24 first-class games and has scored 2030 runs with an average of 47.20.
