At the UEFA’s ceremony to celebrate the start of the new season, the UEFA Awards were given to the player with the best performances of the previous year.
Jorginho was named the men’s best player for his performance in winning the Champions League with Chelsea and Euro 2020 with Italy and became the first Chelsea player to be crowned UEFA Men's Player of the Year since the award's inception.

His Chelsea Coach Thomas Tuchel and teammates Edouard Mendy and N’Golo Kante also won awards, while Erling Haaland won the award for Best Forward.
The women’s awards for the past year were also presented, the most outstanding of which was given to Alexia Putellas.
