Delhi Half Marathon to take place on November 29 in bio-secure zones

In the prestigious Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, some of the best runners in the world are expected to participate on 29 November, and the organizers promised to provide bio-secure zones to ensure a COVID-19 free race for elite runners.

While the elite marathon runners will be at the starting line at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, enthusiasts around the world will join them through the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon mobile app, as said in a media release. Registrations for the three-race categories already began on 30th October.

This specialized event app will be launched exclusively with a variety of features, including the time and distance tracker for an enhanced running experience.

The media release stated that the Half Marathon would follow the highest level of safety standards, with biosecure zones to ensure COVID-19 free races for elite runners.

The race will be supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, World Athletics, Government of NCT of Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs, Athletics Federation of India, Sports Authority of India and Association of International Marathons & Distance Races. The World Athletics Gold Label race will have total prize money of $233,270.

Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is one of the first global sporting events to be staged in India during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the event will maintain all mandatory protocols under the advisory issued by the Government of India.

Kiren Rijiju, Sports Minister, said that sport has always been a symbol of optimism and is looking forward to the event.

"Sport has always been a symbol of optimism, and we look forward to the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon on 29 November. We extend our full support to this event that is India's pride and welcome the world's best athletes to our capital city, The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is representative of a healthier and fitter nation and reinforces the vision of the Fit India movement, I would encourage every one of you to participate from the safety & security of your own surroundings," said Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju in a release.

Registrations for all the race categories of Half Marathon, 10 km, Great Delhi Run (5 km) will start at 7 pm on Friday and will remain open till 27 November.
