Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland won the TimberTech Champions for his first PGA Tour Champions title in Florida. It is his first victory since winning the 2011 British Open Championship at Royal St George's. Darren hit his second shot at 18 to 30 feet and rolled his eagle attempt just after the hole on Sunday. After Jim Furyk missed a 25-foot eagle attempt, Clarke tapped for a 4-under 68 to get his victory.
The 52-year-old champion had a total of 17-under 199 at The Old Course in Broken Sound. Clarke laid the groundwork for his victory with a 10 under 62 at Boca Raton's Broken Sound Club on Saturday. That round, which included an eagle and 8 birdies, tied him for the lead overnight with Swede Robert Karlsson.
Clarke regained the lead in the Charles Schwab Cup. The PGA Tour Champions concludes in the next week with the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix, although the season will be extended to include 2021 due to tournaments lost to the COVID-19 pandemic.
