Barcelona extends contracts of Gerard Pique, Marc-André ter Stegen and two others

Football club Barcelona shared on Tuesday that they have extended their contract with captain Gerard Piqué, goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, defender Clément Langlet and midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Barcelona also shared that the decision is made after weeks of negotiations and has benefits of temporary salary adjustments due to the financial loss caused after coronavirus pandemic.

Gerard Pique has his contract extended up to June 2024 along with a buyout clause of 500 million euros. This extension bounds him to play some pre-decided number of matches at the beginning of next season. Ter Stegen had his contract extended up to June 2025 with a buyout clause of 500 million euros while De Jong will stay with the team up to June 2026 with 400 million euros buyout clause. Similarly, Langlet has a buyout clause of 300 million euros and a contract till June 2026.
