Mary Lou Retton

Born on 24th January 1968, Mary Lou Retton is a former American gymnast; much-publicized for her All-around performance at the Summer Olympics of 1984. She is amongst the most successful Gymnasts who have performed extremely well at various international events, roping copious medals for the nation.

Here are some of her great achievements:-

• She was the first female athlete from America to win a gold medal in the all-around event at the Olympic Games of 1984.
• Silver Medalist in the vault event at the Olympic Games of 1984.
• Winner of Bronze medals which she earned through her astounding performances in  uneven bars and Floor exercise events at the Olympic Games of 1984.
• Also named as the “Sportswoman of the Year” by the famous American magazine "Sports Illustrated".
• Mary's name was inducted into the “International Gymnastics Hall of Fame” in 1997.
