Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range is a well-equipped shooting arena, located on the South Delhi ridges near the historic Tughlaqabad Fort. The range is spread across an area of 72 acres, named after the prominent Indian shooter Dr. Karni Singh who had won the silver medal at the World Shooting Championships at Cairo in 1962. He was the first shooter to receive the prestigious Arjuna Award by the Government of India. It was initially constructed for the Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982 and has been completely renovated in 2010 before the Commonwealth Games. The reconstruction was started in 2008 and took a span of 13 months with a total expenditure of $33.8 million.

Trivia

This shooting range is considered as one of the best shooting range in the world's by many shooters of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The shooting range is located near the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary.

Significance

It has a 10-meter range, 25-meter range, 50-meter range, final range, and a trap and skeet range.
There is also an armoury building, designed with the newfangled technologies.
There is a centrally air-conditioned indoor facility for the 10-meter shooting range with a capacity of a maximum 500 spectators.
The separate ranges for Trap and Skeet were dismantled. In its place, a modern composite range with world class equipment was built. The place is air conditioned with 80 shooting points.
