After a spectacular debut in 2016, and hosting the 2017 season finale, the Red Bull Air Race returns to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana, USA. Home to the world's biggest single-day sporting event – the historic Indianapolis 500 – and host to the likes of Formula One and NASCAR, the city is primed and ready for even more full-throttle, no-holds-barred racing.
For 2018 the IMS will host the penultimate race of the season, it will be one of the most nail-biting races ever held at this historic motorsport venue!
The pilots will battle for World Championship points in the racetrack above the world's first purpose-built motor speedway, in an aerial racetrack designed to push them to their limits. Indianapolis is the only US-based stop in 2018 and fans can see the adrenaline-packed action unfold above the Motor Speedway when the Red Bull Air Race touches down in Indianapolis on 06-07 October.
Perhaps one of the world's most famous motorsports venues, since 1909 the Indianapolis Motor Speedway has hosted breathtaking racing action, and to this day is considered a premier motorsports racing venue.
Since before the first IndyCars raced in the iconic Indianapolis 500 in 1911, fans have flocked to the oval speedway. The four-corner speedway's layout remains largely unchanged since the early 20th century and is now a National Historic Landmark.
Relatively flat by US standards, the speedway features four quarter-mile (400m) turns, and two straightaways at 5/8 mile each (1,000 m), and two 1/8-mile (200 m) short chutes.
