Robert James Fischer

Regarded as one of the greatest chess players of all times,  Grandmaster Robert James "Bobby" Fischer was born on 9th March 1943 in Chicago, United States. He started playing chess at a very early age, awarded the Brilliancy prize at the age of 13 and was the eleventh World chess champion.

Here are some of his career achievements:

• In 1956, Fischer participated in Rosenwald Memorial Tournament facing 26-year-old Donald Byrne as his opponent and won the game in the most strategic manner. The game was termed as the "Game of the Century" by famous chess Master and Arbiter Hans Kmoch.
• Won the 1963–64 U.S. Championship all 11 games at the age of 20. It was recorded as the perfect score in the history of the tournament.
• Won the 1956 U.S. Junior Championship, held in Philadelphia
• Secured Rank 1 at the 1957 U.S. Junior Open Championship, held in San Francisco
• Earned the first position at the 1957 U. S. Open, held in Cleveland
• Bagged the first place at the 1957 New Jersey State Open, held in East Orange
• Won the 1962 Interzonal tournament, held in Stockholm
• Secured the first place at the 1963 Western Open, held in Bay City
