George Herman "Babe" Ruth Jr.

Lived from 6 February 1895 to 16 August 1948, Babe Ruth was the most-celebrated professional baseball player from the United States. Fondly known as "The Sultan of Swat" and "The Bambino", his MLB career is 22 seasons long from 1914 to 1935. He began his MLB career with the Boston Red Sox but gained fame with New York Yankees as a slugging outfielder. He has established many MLB records, some of which still stand. He was the first batter to score 50 home runs in a season, 60 homers in a season and 500 homers in a career.

Here are some of his career achievements:-

• 7 times World Series Champion in the years 1915, 1916, 1918, 1923, 1927, 1928 and 1932
• 12 times AL Home Run Champion in the years 1918, 1919, 1920, 1921, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1930 and 1931
• Awarded the American League's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1923
• 2 times All-Stars Selection in 1933 and 1934
• Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 and became one of the first five inaugural members
• Named #1 on the Baseball's 100 Greatest Players list of The Sporting News in 1998
• Conferred the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 2018
