Mario Andretti

Born on 28 February 1940, Mario Gabriele Andretti is an Italian- American former racing driver who has dominated the racing track of motorsports for a long span with 109 career wins on large circuits.

Here are some of his career achievements:

• The only driver to win the Daytona 500 1967, Indianapolis 500 1969 and Formula one World Championship in 1978
• The only driver to receive the honor of United States Driver of the Year in three decades, 1967, 1978,  and 1984
• Named as the “Driver of the Century” by  'Associated Press'  in 2000
• His name was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2001
• Honored as the "Commendatore dell'Ordine al Merito Della Repubblica Italiana”, Commendatore by the Government of Italy
• Twice earned the title of “International Race of Champions series champion" in a row in 1978 and 1979
• Won four IndiCar titles in 1965,1966,1969 and 1984
