Airsoft is a furious shooting sport in which the participants tag the opponents with spherical plastic projectiles, launched from an airsoft gun so that they may eliminate them and score points.
The airsoft pellets are not visible, but sometimes they leave welts or red contusions on the skin of the opponents.
The airsoft gun resembles a lot to a real gun and hence, is widely used for military training and acts and the related historical re-enactments.
Airsoft is a team sport where both the teams try their best in tagging the opposite team members with the aid of an airsoft gun and hence, score points.
The matches can be played in both indoor and outdoor spaces to train well by the fighters for the combat situations. All the participants have to follow gun safety and weapon manipulation techniques as well as law enforcement.
Airsoft originated in the early 1970s by Ichiro Nagata. He created the soft air gun by taking care that it wouldn't kill or hurt anyone.
These guns were then regarded as "Soft Air Guns". Later, the new name was coined by a well known Gun Company "Daisy BB Gun". Their first airsoft guns created were referred to as the BB guns that used plastic bearings in contrast to the heavy metal bearings. These guns were designed for various targets where the plastic pellets could be harmless and wouldn't injure the fellow participants. The idea spread like wildfire, and the Japanese referred to it as survival games. By the late 1980s, the Airsoft guns were available in the U.K. by a company called LS. The guns were sold in parts, and after purchasing, the buyers could assemble them and then use the airsoft gun.
The company built them in such a way that they resemble real guns. Since the mid-1980s, the guns have been widely produced and sold globally. The Airsoft guns are majorly manufactured in Asia. Today, Airsoft has seen as a recreational activity and is also performed for training purposes.
Whereas, some countries still have specific restrictions where they have limited muzzle velocity and colour-codes to be used in firearms. They are legal to perform in the U.S. except in Detroit and Chicago.
The paints used in the games should not necessarily be in fluorescent colours and have to have an orange tip.
