The Atatürk Olympic Stadium is a stadium that is located in Başakşehir, Istanbul, Turkey. It is the largest stadium in Turkey regarding capacity. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on 28th November 1997, and the stadium officially opened on 31st July 2002. An estimated amount of $140 million was spent on its construction. The chief architects who built this magnificent stadium are Michel Macary and Aymeric Zublena. The Istanbul BB team was the tenant of the stadium from 2007 to 2014. Galatasaray S.K. played at this stadium from 2003 to 2004. It has a commercial center of 6 floors under the west roof and a modern sound system with a homogenous 102 decibel sound level, covering the entire stadium. It underwent renovations in the year 2005. The stadium was originally built so that Turkey could host the 2008 Olympic Games, which were eventually held in Beijing.
