The Stockholm Olympic Stadium, also known as the Stockholms Stadion locally, is a multi-utility stadium, situated in Stockholm, Sweden. The stadium is currently home to the Djurgårdens IF Fotboll (women), a football club from Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm Olympic Stadium was opened in the year 1912 after a span of two years of construction. The arena has a capacity ranging from 13,145 to 14,500 spectators for sports events that can be extended to 33,000 for concerts. Originally built for hosting the 1912 Summer Olympics, it witnessed the athletics, equestrian, football, gymnastics, pentathlon, tug of war and wrestling events. Swedish architect Torben Grut designed the stadium.

This stadium has witnessed more athletic world records broken than any other stadium in the world. A total 83 athletic world records have been broken at the stadium as of 2008.
The Stockholm Olympic Stadium is more popular by the name "Stadion" amongst the local habitants.

Significance

The Rolling Stones performed in this stadium in front of 35,200 spectators in the year 1995.
American singer Bruce Springsteen has performed at the stadium eight times, entertaining over 100,000 people.
American hard Rock group "Kiss" performed at the stadium during their 2008 World Tour. A total of 32500 tickets were sold within 20 minutes.
Popular Austrian band AC/DC also played at the stadium in the year 2010 on 3rd June.
Michael Jackson twice performed at the stadium in 1992 during his "Dangerous World Tour" on 17th and 18th July. A total of 53,000 fans witnessed his performance.
A record attendance of 21,995 was set on 16th August 1946 at the football match held between Djurgårdens IF and AIK (Allmänna Idrottsklubben).
The Finland-Sweden Athletics International has been hosted at the arena 29 times.
The Stockholm Olympic Stadium has also been the home ground of a Swedish football club Allmänna Idrottsklubben (The Public Athletics Club) from 1912 to 1936.
It is one of the smallest stadiums used for conducting Summer Olympic events.
