Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium at Kochi in the state of Kerala is regionally known as Kaloor International Stadium. Established in 1996, this stadium hosts both cricket and football matches. Many international cricket matches have taken place at this stadium. It is the home ground of the state cricket team of Kerala and Kerala Blasters F.C. that plays in the Indian Super League. The ground is also used for important exhibitions, cinema events and other big gatherings, and has 109 Executive Suites. It is owned and operated by the Greater Cochin Development Authority and was built under the supervision of authority head V.J.Thomas.

Trivia

Architecturally this ground is distinctive with giant convex floodlight pylons arching over the ground. The floodlights of the stadium have been arranged in a way that light would be equally distributed over the whole area and HD telecast can be done.

Significance

The first Indian Premier League match at the stadium was between Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Royal Challengers Bangalore, held on 9th April 2011.
The first tournament at the venue was the Nehru Cup International Football Tournament, held in 1997. Around 100,000 spectators visited the stadium to watch the match between India and Iraq.
The Indian Super League (ISL) Final of 2016 between Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters was held at the stadium during which the crowd noise reached to 128dB.
The first One Day International played at this venue was between India and Australia on 1st April 1998.
