Also known as Maracanãzinho, Ginásio do Maracanãzinho (Ginasio Gilberto Cardoso) is an indoor arena, located in Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The stadium was opened on 24th September 1954. The stadium is owned by Superintendência de Desportos do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. The arena is regarded as one of the best arenas to host basketball matches. The architecture of this arena was by Rafael Galvão, Antônio Dias Carneiro, Orlando Azevedo and Pedro Bastos. After a span of six months of construction, the arena opened its door to host sports events on 24th September, 1954.
