The Australian Sports Awards, previously known as "The Sports Australia Awards" were organized in 1980. From 1980 to 1996 the awards were restricted to seven categories.
The Sport Australia Award and the ABC Sports Award of the year were merged in 1993.

This award is given every year to the best coach in any sporting discipline who has majorly contributed for his players’, teams’ or clubs’ performance at national as well as international levels.
This award is presented to the best and most innovative business idea in Australian sports.
