Speed Skiing Rules

• The ski suits worn by the speed skiers should only be made from air-tight latex or can be coated with polyurethane.
• The skis should have a length of 240 centimetres (94 inches) and a width of 10 centimetres (3.9 inches). The weight of the skis is around 15 kg (33 lb). 
• The ski boots are mandatory for all skiers. These boots should have a ski binding device that can attach the boots to the ski.
• The ski poles/sticks used for balancing and moderate propulsion by any participant should be bent into shape around the body and have a minimum length of 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches). 
• The courses where speed skiing is performed should be adequately designed along with all the safety measures.
• In the FIS races, the speed for the participants is limited to 200 kilometres per hour.
• The participants are not allowed to stop or turn before a specially restricted area, known as the Run-out Area. 
• The ski boots used by the participants shouldn't weigh more than 6 kilograms per pair. The boots cannot have aerodynamics appendages or any streamlining. They can be easily removed when required.
• The inner helmet, also known as the crash helmet, must have 0.5 cm thick foam for better head protection.
• The speed skiers are allowed to wear rear fairings of less than 1 kg weight under their ski suit. The fairings should be rounded and adjustable with the regular boot's shape. 
• The helmets should have the starting numbers marked accordingly. Skiers are directly disqualified if the shape, font and size of the printed numbers are altered. The starting numbers should be 6 cm big in length and should be visible.
• The participants can use dorsal protection to protect themselves from any frictional burning or injury. But they shouldn't have any additional incorporated elements related to aerodynamics or any other metal bearings. Under natural pressure, dorsal protection should be about 0.3 cm thick. 
• The participants are entirely prohibited from using any accessories such as bracelets made of metal, watches, chains or necklaces and heavy earrings. The participants cannot use their glass lenses or metallic framed spectacles.
• The ski poles are compulsory for all players. These poles should be of at least 1 meter in length, and a pair of poles cannot weigh more than 2 kg. The handles should be placed at the upper part of the ski poles without any hand straps, also known as the sword knots. 
• The participants are required to hold the ski poles at their upper limit and shouldn't protrude towards the forward direction of their hands. 
• All the Speed Ski bindings should have functioning ski-brakes without any straps. These bindings should have a height below than 2.5 cm from the surface of the ski.
