Qianball is a hybrid of tennis and squash. It is usually played on a smaller variant of tennis court by two or four players, where the nets are usually placed on the same side of the court.
Objective
It aims in bouncing the ball on the opposing player zone and return the shots until the ball touches the ground on the side of the net the players are standing. The game is played on a tennis court with a smaller circumference. Similar to the tennis game, the players are also placed on the same side of the net.
History
The sport originated in China but popularised in Denmark, where they have their organisation KFUMs BoldKlub (Danish branch of YMCA sport) to govern all the national events. The game is described as a hybrid of tennis and squash or as squash without walls. The KFUMs Boldklub was founded on June 4, 1899, in Denmark, which governs the Qianball events.
Equipment
The equipment used is a heavy weighted ball bag or a specialised hook embedded in the floor, a typical qianball racquet, with a rubber band embedded qianball.
Playing Area
The game of qianball is played on a rectangular court with two areas; the player's zone and the ball zone.
Scoring
The players aim to hit the ball from their side of the court so that the ball lands back within the court's margins and in such a way that the opponent may not serve it back. The player wins a point every time the opponent is unable to return the ball within the court. Qianball can be played on any surface, such as flat or hard. It can be conducted indoors or outdoors and during any weather.
