Goal Ball Rules

Match Duration

The game is divided into 12-minutes halves (usually 10 minutes).

Players

Partially sighted players are prescribed to wear eyeshades so as to compete on an equal footing with their blind counterparts.

Infractions

They are punished by the loss of possession to the opponent team:-

• Premature Throw- Throwing the ball before the official calls for ‘play.'
• Pass Out- The ball crosses the sideline while passing amongst the members of the team.
• Ball Over- The ball rebounds off a defending player, the goalposts or crossbar and crosses back over the half-court.

Penalties

A penalty throw may be awarded in the following cases:-

• Ten Second Penalty
• Delay of Game
• Illegal defence
• Short ball
• High ball
• Long ball
• Touching Eyeshades
• Unsportsmanlike Conduct
• Excessive noise
• Illegal Coaching
