The home-ground of the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL), the BB & T Center is located in Sunrise, Florida. It is an indoor arena which was formerly known as the National Car Rental Center, the Office Depot Center and the Bank Atlantic Center. The construction work commenced on 8th November 1996 and total US$185 million were spent on it. The center finally opened its door for spectators on 3rd October 1998, specifically designed by architecture firm Ellerbe Becket. Broward County owns the center. The stadium has served as the home for Florida ThunderCats (NPSL) from 1998 to 1999. It was also the home ground for Florida Bobcats (AFL) between 1999-2001.
