The Olympiastadion (also known as the Olympiastadion München) is located in Munich, Germany. This stadium was built as the prime venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics, inaugurated on the 26th of May 1972 after a span of four years of construction. Its original capacity during the inauguration was 80,000. At present, it has a capacity for 69,250 spectators. The architectural style of the full and transparent canopy is to symbolize the new, democratic and optimistic Germany.
