Michigan Stadium, situated in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is the football stadium for the University of Michigan and was inaugurated on 1st October 1927. It is also known as "The Big House" and is the largest stadium in the United States and the second-largest stadium in the world. It has an official capacity of 107,601 but has hosted a crowd of over 115,000. Michigan Stadium was built in 1927 at the worth of $950,000 which is equivalent to $11.2 million now and had an original capacity of 72,000.
Michigan Stadium is used for the main graduation ceremony of the University of Michigan; President Lyndon b. Johnson outlined his Great Society program at ceremonies beginning at the stadium in 1964. It has hosted a record attendance of 105,491 during the 2014 NHL Winter Classic in a match between Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Additionally, the 2014 International Champions Cup football match between Real Madrid and Manchester United had an audience of 109,318, a record crowd for a football match in the United States. The stadium has gone through renovation after which it was re-opened in 2010 and has gone through expansion process several times till now.
