The HDI-Arena is primarily a football stadium, situated in Hanover, Germany. The stadium was called the Niedersachsenstadion from 1954 to 2002. From 2003 to 2013, this stadium was known as AWD-Arena. It has been named as HDI-Arena due to a sponsorship deal. The stadium opened its gate for spectators on 26th September 1954. The chief architecture firm involved in the construction of the arena is Schulitz & Partner Architects. The total construction cost of the stadium was € 82.8 million. The Arena is operated by Hannover 96 Arena GmbH & Co. KG. The stadium is the home to the Bundesliga football club, 'Hannover 96'.
