Ford Field is an indoor center in the United States that predominantly hosts football events. The Ford Motor Company has purchased the naming rights of the stadium at the cost of $40 million. It is owned by Detroit/ Wayne County Stadium Authority and operated by Detroit Lions (professional American football team). The stadium was opened on 24th August 2002. The stadium is elegantly designed by Rossetti Architects, Hamilton Anderson Associates, Kaplan, Mc Laughlin and Diaz Architects. The tenants of this arena are Detroit Lions, Quick Lane Bowl, and Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

The Ford Field Stadium is the home field for National Football League’s, Detroit Lions.

Significance

On 1st April 2007, Ford Field conducted the World Wrestling Entertainment’s Wrestle Mania 23 which was witnessed by recorded attendance of 80,103 viewers.
This stadium also hosts the MAC Championship Game every year since 2004.
The regional semi-final and final games of NCAA Basketball Tournament were also hosted by Ford Field along with the University of Detroit Mercy in the year 2008.
The NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament of the year 2010 was held in the stadium. It was a first time an NCAA hockey match was played on a football ground which was witnessed by the largest number of spectators (37,592).
This multi-facility arena has hosted the Super Bowl XL in the year 2006 on 5th February where Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Seattle Sea Hawks by 21-10. This was the fifth time that Pittsburgh claimed the Super Bowl Championship.
