The Eventfinda Stadium, formerly known as North Shore Events Centre, is a multi-purpose events venue that predominantly hosts basketball and boxing events. It is the home of New Zealand Breakers that competes in the National Basketball League (NBL). The idea of building such an event centre was raised in the 1980s, during the visit of a sports organisation to the Takapuna City Council. That was when the need for a multi-purpose sports arena was realised and then the North Shore Stadium Trust was established. By the decision of the first group of trustees that included basketball players and gymnasts of the mid-80s, the arena was designed by architects with an estimated amount of $6 million. The arena finally opened its doors in September 1992.

Trivia

Initially, the arena was owned and managed by the North Shore City Council, but in 1998, the ownership and management were transferred to North Shore Events Centre Trust Board that later moved under the umbrella of Regional Facilities Auckland after the establishment of Auckland Council.

Significance

The arena has mezzanine areas, the central stadium area and numerous meeting rooms. It also houses some of the best basketball courts of Auckland along with netball and badminton court facilities.
The most famous fight hosted by the arena was held in November 2014 where Kali Meehan fought Shane Cameron for the WBA Pan African Heavyweight title.
NSEC hosts major sports events of horse shows, table tennis, basketball and netball. Besides this, it also provides a wide area for dinner banquets, circus events and expos.
