The Citi Field is a stadium, situated in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, New York City. The construction work to build this magnificent stadium commenced on 13th November 2006 in which an estimated amount of US$900 million was spent. The global architectural firm Populous (formerly known as HOK Sport). The stadium opened its gate to college games on 29th March 2009, to exhibition games on 3rd April 2009 and to regular season games on 13th April 2009. The stadium is operated by the New York Mets and owned by the City of New York. It was built as a replacement of the former Shea Stadium. The Citi Field has been the home of the New York Mets of the Major League Baseball (MLB) since its inception.
