Autodromo do Estoril, known officially as “Autodromo Fernanda Pires da Silva” is a race track for motorsport, Estoril, Portugal. It is owned by a holding management company known as Parpublica. However, the owning company was taken over by the state in 1975 for a span of three years. The circuit has received the license of FIA Grade 1. Several F2 races and national races were held in the circuit. It had faced several problems regarding safety failing at the inspections more than once.

Trivia

The circuit was built in 1972 but came into the limelight internationally after FIA F2 Championship in 1982 hosted by the site.
The main series of open-wheel racing of the Estoril track is now the Super League Formula series.

Significance

On 3rd September, 2000, the circuit held the annual event of Portuguese Motorcycle Grand Prix for the first time.
A special stage of the Rally de Portugal was held at the Estoril circuit in 1980.
The circuit hosted the third round of AI Grand Prix racing season on 23rd October 2005.
World champion Ayrton Senna won his first Formula One in 1985 at Autodromo de Estoril.
After Ayrton Senna’s death behind the wheel in 1994, at San Marino Grand Prix, the circuit length was increased as a safety measure.
Austrian formula1 driver Niki Lauda won the 1984 championship which was held at the Estoril circuit.
