The Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Center is also referred as the General Electric Exhibition Center. It is located in Aberdeen, Scotland and is often abbreviated as AECC. Aberdeen has a Holiday Inn Express hotel, facilities for conferences along with a multi-use Gas Arena and GE Oil which was initially known as the Press and Journal Arena from 2002-2012. It was officially opened in 1985 and has been widely used for WWE Wrestling, Ice skating performances, World Snooker’s Grand Prix Championship, Britain’s Got Talent Live Tour and the X Factor Live Tour. The young boys’ band, One Direction, performed in the EACC in 2011 during the X Factor Live Tour. International films have also been hosted here amongst which 'The Prodigy', 'Fall Out Boy', 'My Chemical Romance', 'Foo Fighters', 'The Killers', etc. are some of them. Various conferences have been organized at the centre such as SPE Offshore Europe, oil and gas conference, etc. The Oasis (famous rock band) has performed in the EACC for a couple of times. Their first performance was held on September 19th-20th 1997 followed by another in 9th-10th September 2002. They have recently performed there in 2008. The gigs mentioned above did well and sold out in minutes.
