Yashwant Stadium is one of the biggest football stadiums of Maharashtra, situated in Nagpur, considered as one of the best stadia of the state, but due to lack of proper maintenance, it hardly hosts sports activities. In the year of 1962, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) received 13.56 acres of land from the Maharashtra Government on lease to construct the stadium, but the stage was built only in around 3.60 acres of land. Constructed between 1970-1974, it is considered as the oldest stadium of Maharashtra. This is an old structure, so the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has decided for the redevelopment of the stadium. Due to insufficient parking areas, big jams are usually created in front of the stadium, during the matches or other cultural activities. That’s why; NMC is planning to create ample parking space in the stadium. It is planned by NMC that new stadium should have the facility for both indoor and outdoor sports.
