The XL Center is a well-known convention center and a multi-purpose arena, located in Hartford, United States. It was previously owned by the City of Hartford and is operated by Spectra at present. The Center was renamed as XL Center in December 2007. This famous arena is ranked as the twenty-eighth among all the largest college basketball arenas in the world. It was renovated in the year 2010 to make it world-class. A new center-hung scoreboard along with Sony Jumbotrons and powerful music system was added in 2010.

Michael Jackson-the King of Pop, performed in XL Center on 30th and 31st March 1988.

Significance

The ECAC New England Region Tournament and National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I men’s college matches were organized at the venue in 1977.
The Big East Conference women’s basketball tournament was held at this venue in 2009.
The Grateful Dead’s performance was recorded and released as a live album at the venue on 28th May 1977.
