The Workers’ Stadium is popularly known as Gongti or Gong Ti, situated in Beijing, China. This is a multi-purpose stadium in the Chaoyang district in the north-east part of Beijing. The stadium usually hosts football matches. The construction of the stadium ended in the year 1959 and then followed major renovation conducted in the year 2004. Workers' stadium is deemed to be one of the top ten great buildings which were constructed in the year 1959 for the 10th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
Significance
- The internationally renowned American rock band "Linkin Park" performed at Workers' Stadium during "The Hunting Tour" on 26th of July 2015. A total of 60,000 audience witnessed this gala event.
- Workers' Stadium has hosted the Jay Chou 2007 World Tour.
- The Rainy Day 2005 Tour was hosted in this venue.
- The 2008 Summer Olympics was held in this stadium.
- The Barclays Asia Trophy took place in this venue in 2009 which featured clubs such as Beijing Guoan, West Ham United, Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur.
- “Glay One Love” in Beijing was held in the stadium on 13th October 2002, witnessed by 35,000 audience.
