Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium was built back in 1984 as the permanent venue at Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia to host Sultan Azlan Shah Cup. The Malaysian Hockey Confederation along with the International Hockey Confederation administrates and looks upon all the aspects of the venue related to event conducting, development and promotion.
Trivia
The venue has been named the same as its prime tournament Sultan Azlan Shah Cup after the ninth King of Malaysia who was an avid fan of field hockey.
Significance
The stadium hosted the second edition of the Tournament in 1985 in which India bagged the winner title against the team of Malaysia whereas the Pakistan team spotted the third position.
The Australian team has won the most number of titles (10) at the venue till now.
The venue is hosting the tournament consecutively since 2007.
